Dear Parishioners,As we honored the courageous men and women who gave their lives in the service of our country last weekend, Memorial Day officially kicks off the summer season. May this time in our lives bring us refreshment and relaxation to renew us in mind, body and spirit.
I hope you noticed the new pavement at our property entrance and the parking area behind the church. The potholes were getting so big, we didn't want to lose anyone. The cost of the paving that was done amounted to $39, 612. Since the paving is so costly, we decided to have it done in three sections. Around the parish center will be done in the fall or next spring depending on the monies available. The last section to be done will be the east exit, depending on when something happens on the Catholic Charities property. At this time, we know very little.
As I mentioned previously, the church security systems has been installed at the cost of $2,598.80 and I am extremely grateful to our Mother Cabrini Knights of Columbus for giving me a check for $1,000 to help offset that cost. All church locks have been changed and new keys (that can not be duplicated) have been given to those who should have one at the cost of $1,710.95.
These out of the ordinary expenses are brought to your attention only to keep you informed of how your contributions are being spent, to keep our church property someting to be proud of and to keep it secure. I realize all of you have similar expenses to your hown home, but the parish is also your home and I ask if you can to contribute just a bit more to help us cover these expenses.
I thank Father Henry who has been with us on weekends since December. He offered to assist on weekends knowing I was alone. Through his prayerfulness and spirituality, he has opened our lives to God.
Father Michael, whom you all know so well, is now here for the summer and possibly a little longer. Having Father Michael here is like a good friend coming home. Now that there are two of us here during the week, we will resume the 8AM Mass on Friday and Saturday mornings beginning Friday, June 6th, until further notice.
I thank the parish Social Committee, headed by Diane Rabbitt, for planning a very special parish get-together in July. Watch our weekly bulletin for details about the "PARISH PICNIC."Fr. Don
